Weekend glider operations suspended at SLI

On 20 Nov 2017, the Los Alamitos Army Airfield Commander announced that beginning in December the Los Alamitos Army Airfield tower will no longer be staffed on weekends.  Per our current operating agreement with the Joint Forces Training Base at Los Alamitos, Squadron 41 can only operate on Los Alamitos Army Airfield when the tower is open.

That means we need to cease all glider operations at Los Alamitos on the weekends until either (a) the tower reopens or (b) a new operating agreement is approved.  We are still able to operate during the week and are looking into possible dates to do so.

We are working with the base to be allowed to resume weekend operations as soon as possible.

NO Glider Ops – Sunday 19 November 2017

NO FLY at SLI on Sunday 19 November 2017.

Due to lack of a winch and a towplane we will not be flying this Sunday.  The tow plane is down for repairs and the planned enhancements to the winch are taking longer than expected and will not be completed in time to fly on Sunday the 19th.

We will also not be flying next weekend as it  is the weekend of the Thanksgiving Holidays.
