Glider preparation will start Sunday morning at 0900 PT or earlier, on the ramp just south of the CAP offices located at: 3976 Constitution Avenue, Los Alamitos, CA 90720. We will be assembling the glider which is now back from it annual inspection. Glider Winch Launch flight operations will commence as soon as practical thereafter.
We will be visited by Retired US Army Lt Col Sam Sachs, a WWII veteran who made two combat landings in a glider. (A Waco CG-4A Glider.). Colonel Sachs will visit Sq. 41 about 2 pm and possibly take a glider flight in N2037T. Hopefully his landing at Los Alamitos will be less stressful than the landings he made in Normandy on D-Day, 6 June 1944 and during Operation Market Garden in the Netherlands between 17 and 21 September 1944.
The last cadet flight of the day must be on the ground 30 minutes before sunset which is 1621 PT. Official sunset will occur about 1651 PT on Sunday, 11 November 2018.
*Weather permitting: Glider Flight Ops require visibility and safety. Ops will be cancelled due to low visibility (fog or low clouds); or if winds greater than 20 knots (23 mph) are reported; or if lightning strikes or rain are observed within 10 miles of Los Alamitos JFTB.
